Dubuque Chorale

We share our lives through our stories. As means of communication, literature and music have a special bond. Poetry and music carry an extra emotional impact, which helps seal them into our memories. These can be haunting ballads, whimsical childhood favorites or stirring calls to action from great literature.

For their spring concert, the Dubuque Chorale, their chamber choir Cadenza, and both Dubuque Chorale Children’s Choirs celebrate the magic of storytelling through song.

Program

The concert features songs based on beloved works of literature, like Emily Brontë’s Wuthering Heights, Lewis Carrol’s Through the Looking Glass, and Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables. The concert will also feature the musical storytelling of ballads, including traditional folk songs like “John Henry,” and modern classics like Gordon Lightfoot’s “Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.

Admission is free of charge. Donations are accepted.
